Austria Classic Stadthotel Wolfinger: The Hotel on Linz main square combines modern comforts with a historic setting.

A stylish blend of progress and tradition, modern comforts and historic surroundings awaits guests at the Austria Classic Hotel Wolfinger on Linz main square. The combination of an elegant 3-star city hotel and the building itself with its long history stretching back to the 15th century gives the hotel a particular charm.

The 50 rooms, most of which are furnished in the Biedermeier style, afford views of the baroque ensemble of Linz main square or into the picturesque, tranquil inner courtyard. Two generations of the Dangl family of hoteliers assure guests of a warm welcome. Room rates include free Wi-Fi, spacious desks for guests travelling on business, and a delicious, generous buffet breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children under the age of 6 sleep in their parents’ room free of charge, and the price for children aged 7 – 12 is 50% of the room rate when they sleep in their parents’ room. Hotel Wolfinger is open all the year round.

Space for events, functions and conferences
Hotel Wolfinger in the very heart of Linz has a bright, multifunctional 35-m² function room for events, seminars and conferences. A catering service and a selection of conference equipment can be provided on request.

Hotel Wolfinger can look back on a long history. Originally built as a monastery, the first documented proprietor was Christoph Waiss is 1533. In 1585 Christoph Canevale was commissioned with constructing a new building on the site for Peter Waiss, later mayor of Linz, who owned the property from 1568 to 1616. From 1646 the building housed an inn which, in 1771, was given the name “Zum Goldenen Löwen”. In 1894 the inn’s long-serving head waiter, Leopold Wolfinger, leased the business, and three years later became proprietor. Since that time the name “Hotel Wolfinger” has been emblazoned on the facade. In 1974 the Dangl family of hoteliers from Linz bought the famous property that has been a listed building since 1940. Among the prominent guests of Hotel Wolfinger were Prince Metternich (1841), Archduke John of Austria (1843) and Hans Christian Andersen (1869), while Anton Bruckner was a regular patron.
